Teater Paria

Teater Paria was founded in 1992 by Carlo Hiltunen during a production of Strindberg's Paria which was first played in Stockholm and after that in Södermanland. Since then, Paria has resided and acted in Eskilstuna and it's vicinity in different contexts and locales. In the spring of 2003, PARIA had access to Balsta castle basement, a venue with atmosphere and a long history.

PARIA over the years has invited its audience of children's theater (a selection: Pinocchio; Lille Prinsen; Bortbytingen; Sista dagen på ön; Hammaren och korset; Vad väntar vi på?; Fula ankungen), as summertheater (among others Mrozeks På villande hav på en flotte i ån; Molieres Läkare mot sin vilja, Den Girige, Sganarelle, George Dandin; Tjechovs Björnen; Shakespeares Som ni vill ha det; Torbjörn Säves Legenden om Eskil), different one-act plays for adult and school audiences (among other things, Fröken Julie; Fridells Syndfull skapelse; T. Williams Utdömd egendom: M. Dahlströms Skärbrännaren; Enquists I lodjurets timma) and also on song and poetry programs (with lyrics and songs by Hasse och Tage, Bellman, Vysotskij, Brecht, Brel, Piaf etc).

In its efforts to offer a sometimes unaccustomed theatrical audience to its interpretation of our common heritage PARIA has on several occasions visited different neighborhoods in Eskilstuna - with both a "horse trailer" and a circus tent - and various locations in Sörmland.

The circus tent did also come along on a school tour (!) and it will be material to come in PARIAs summer project. PARIA tours also in Västmanland, Stockholm län och Kommun, Örebro län and in Skåne with their children and adult productions.
